Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) was established in Viswajyothi College of Engineering and Technology (VJCET) and had been successfully functioning from 2017. The mission of the IEDCs is to develop institutional mechanism to create entrepreneurial culture in academic institutions to foster growth of innovation and entrepreneurship amongst the faculty and students.

Objectives

To act as an institutional mechanism for providing various services including information on all aspects of enterprise building for budding S&T entrepreneurs.
To create Entrepreneurial culture in the Parent Institution and other institutions in the region and to promote the objectives of NSTEDB, including programmes related to women and the backward sections of the society.
To inculcate a culture of innovation driven entrepreneurship through student projects.
To catalyse and promote development of S&T knowledge-based enterprises and to promote employment opportunities in the innovative areas.
To respond effectively to the emerging challenges and opportunities both at national and international level relating to SMEs and micro enterprises.

Functions of IEDC

To organise Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps, Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, Faculty Development Programmes and Skill Development Programmes in the college/institution for the benefit of S&T persons.
To initiate innovative student projects each year for the new innovative product development.
To organize Business Plan Competitions every year.
To guide and assist prospective entrepreneurs on various aspects such as preparing project reports, obtaining project approvals, loans and facilities from agencies of support system, information on technologies, etc.
To arrange interaction with entrepreneurs and create a mentorship scheme for student entrepreneurs.

Highlights Activities of IEDC at VJCET

Workshop on Gen AIl on 03/04/25 by Mr. Alosh Denny, Technology consultant, Disern Security, INfopark , Cochin. 61 students participated in the programme.
IEDC-VJCET organized Idea fest on 20/03/25. This event was organized exclusively for First and Second Year Students of Viswajyoythi College and enable students to effectively participate in the state level idea fest competitions held by Kerala Startup Mission.
Hands on training programme was conducted on Laravel on 28/11/23 by Mr. Manoj Francis. About 55 students participated in the programme.
INNOVATION TALK ,IEDC iTALK by Mr Sharon Biju,CEO ,Keyshell IT Solutions. The program was organized by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC)on 6thJanuary 2023.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP BOOTCAMP conducted on 13thJanuary 2023.
HACKATHONON in ML. Hackathon conducted on 16thDecember 2022
WORKSHOP ON ML:- The workshop was conducted on 14th, 15th and 16 th December 2022. Dr. Ahilesh Sivan, Asst. Prof, CUSAT, DCS was the resource person. A workshop on Machine Learning (ML) aimed to provide an opportunity to learn about one of the most exciting and rapidly advancing fields of computer science. In this workshop, focussed about the key concepts and techniques of ML, as well as gain hands-on experience with some of the most popular ML tools and frameworks.
IEDC - IDEA FEST:- IEDC Idea Fest was conducted on 7 th December 2022. The Idea Fest 2022 aimed to cultivate new start up ideas from all students from first year to final year across all departments. Ideas include both innovative ideas and business plans.
WORKSHOP ON WEB DESIGNING AND HTML:- The workshop aims to cover the basics of web design, including layout, typography, color theory, and user experience design.
INNOVATIVE BOOTCAMP by Mr. Ramamritham Thirusami. The program was organized by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) 7 th January 2023. The boot camp aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in a rapidly changing job market, and we will analyze how it achieves this goal through its unique approach.
IEDC iTALK:- The program was organized by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC)30th November 2022. The talk was given by Mr. UllasGiri , Founder, Sindout.com. The program aimed to provide insights and recommendations that can inform policy makers, business leaders, and other stakeholders in their efforts to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
SEMINAR ONENERGY TRENDS IN TECH:- The program was organized by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) 24 th November 2022. A seminar on energy trends in technology is an informative event that aims to provide insights and updates on the latest developments and trends in the intersection of energy and technology. Mr. Aswin Joy, Technical Trainer TCS was the resource person.
IEDC iTALK:- The talk was given by Dr. Manoj M, The Director of Skillwingz Edutech PVT LTD. The program was conducted in batches starting from 9 am to the first- year students of all the branches namely AI, CE, CG, CSE, IT, ME, EEE, EC. About 450+ students attended the program in the Main Auditorium.
IEDC - VJCET is conducting workshops, skill development programmes, technical talks and Industry Interaction programmes regularly.
Students and faculty members of IEDC VJCET are participating in IEDC summit-2023.
Separate Orientation work shop was conducted for all the first-year students in each department and explained about the functioning of IEDC and its relevance.
In VJCET, college level idea fest is conducted every year.
EDC has an office cum work space of around 500 square feet in the R&D block.
