About Us

Department of Management Studies of VISWAJYOTHI College of Engineering and Technology, (VJCET) approved by AICTE and affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), Kerala, started the full-time MBA course in 2009. Within a short span of time, the department has earned a name of itself and is poised for the next phase of development with a broader scope of activities and a clear vision, and mission. Department of Management Studies is dedicated to the development of promising leaders who can create wisdom, innovation from action, networks from contacts and sustained adaptability from changes. Management Studies at VJCET opens up new frontiers in the global management scene and equips the students with the skill-set to cope with today's business environment which is filled with complexity and uncertainty.

 

At VJCET, students are exposed to the emerging state of the art technologies and leading-edge business management practices which will enable them to lead multinational workforces, communicate with stakeholders, develop creative solutions to emerging business issues and drive innovation through entrepreneurial practices. ASSOCIATIONS

VMA is completely a student driven organization for the promotion of the curricular and extracurricular activities in the campus. It acts as a bridge between the student body and the administration in matters of general, academic or individual importance while ensuring that all guidelines are followed. It has an executive committee selected by the students of the department. Executive committee has members from both first year and second year batches. Alumni’s, who were members of the committee, plays a vital role in mentoring the association. VMA organizes programmes for college day, Independence Day, republic day and other important days. VMA plays a big role in conducting national symposiums and conferences. They make sure the student life at VISWAJYOTHI is colourful and memorable.

MA is very active in providing Induction Programme for all students at the start of the course. They will debrief the forthcoming challenges and issues faced by the students during the course of the MBA programme. They also conduct sessions on Communication skills, fostering interpersonal relationships, time management, goal setting, public speaking, career opportunities, soft skill development, study techniques and life skills in general are covered during the programme. Thus such programmes will help them to alleviate their fears and apprehensions about their compatibility in a business management atmosphere.

COMMITTEES & CLUBS

FINANCE CLUB

Finance Club of Department of Management Studies is a platform for acquiring financial knowledge, a place for interactive learning and an ideal club to facilitate career development for finance students. It is a club that connects students of MBA , alumni, industry experts and academicians. Finance club also conducts Business quiz and discussions, handles fund management and trading games which help them to learn more about stock market ,portfolio management and financial analysis. It provides forum for financial research and analysis, and publish their research findings.

Key activities of the year are:

  • Stock market game -online stock trading game and portfolio management.
  • Finance quiz- College level finance quiz to enrich the knowledge in the areas of
    finance.
  • External speaker series and workshops on online stock trading and portfolio
    management.

MARKETING CLUB

The vibrant marketing club of Department of Management Studies provides the students ample opportunities in identifying various needs and requirements of the campus and respond with relevant goods and services creatively. The club also organizes interactions with working professionals at various levels from different sectors.

Through this club we would like to provide valuable insights to the field of HRM and also give an overview of how the HR field is being perceived and attempt to bring a fresh perspective on HR issues and challenges that the business world faces today. The HR Club hosts events where distinguished industry leaders in the HR domain interact with students. It also helps Faculty to accompany in research and consultancy projects.

OPERATIONS FORUM

Operations aims to help students to gain knowledge in this domain by bringing industry experts and exploring opportunities to visit manufacturing plants. This forum also prepares students for inter-collegiate management fests.

MBA ACADEMIC ADVISORY COUNCIL
An Academic Advisory Council for the MBA course of the Viswajyothi College of Engineering and Technology was constituted on 14th October 2016. Advisory board has 14 members headed by Msgr. Dr. Pius Malenkandathil (Manager) and Rev. Fr. Paul Nedumburath as the secretary. The members are nominated by the Board of Trustees.

ABOUT PLACEMENT CELL


Placement is a very important activity at VISWAJYOTHI College of Engineering and Technology .VJCET has an independent placement cell focused to cater to the needs of leading organizations in conducting campus interviews for the final year. The placement officer is assisted by student representatives. The committee evolves a broad policy framework every year. Students are closely co-opted in implementing these policy decisions. The cell keeps close liaison with various industrial establishments (both private and public sectors), which conduct campus interviews and select the student from all disciplines. Most of them visit the Campus for holding campus interviews. Department of Management Studies have a department representative who co ordinates the placement activities synchronizing with placement department.

INDUSTRY FAMILIARISATION PROGRAMME
Department of Management Studies regularly conducts invited talks from various industries such as Banking, Insurance, Retailing, IT, Automobile, Steel and Energy. We also facilitate panel discussions on rising challenges in the industry with a global outlook. Apart from talks and discussion, we arrange internship opportunity to our students. Every student, after completing their first year, has to associate with a company for a period of two months. During the program, students will obtain on the job work experience and get an opportunity to conduct a research project in their area of interest. Thus, our students will get a first experience of their future job while they study at Viswajyothi.


BUSINESS QUIZ
The Business Quiz happens weekly once which is mainly conducted by the students based on the news from the Business Line of the respective week. The students are divided into various groups that compete with each other. The winning group is awarded prizes. Each group is coordinated and guided by a faculty.


INDUSTRY INTERACTIONS
As we expect all of our students to join a company immediately after the program, we prepare them to rightly orient to understand the industry dynamics and expectations. We regularly take our students to seminars and conferences conducted by the industry and management associations in locations such as Cochin, Thiruvananthapuram, Bangalore and Chennai. Many of our students and Faculty are members of Kerala Management Association. Students build rapport with industrialists and these network of connections help them to identify internships, projects and even get placed in companies.

About the Certification Examination for Mutual Fund Distributors

The examination seeks to create a common minimum knowledge benchmark for all persons involved in selling and distributing mutual funds including:
Individual Mutual Fund Distributors
Employees of organizations engaged in sales and distribution of Mutual Funds
Employees of Asset Management Companies especially persons engaged in sales and distribution of Mutual Funds
The certification aims to enhance the quality of sales, distribution and related support services in the mutual fund industry.


Examination Objectives

On successful completion of the examination, the candidate should:
Know the basics of mutual funds, their role and structure, different kinds of mutual fund schemes and their features.
Understand how mutual funds are distributed in the market-place, how schemes are to be evaluated, and how suitable products and services can be recommended to investors and prospective investors in the market

Our MBA programme is designed in such a way that students have to visit a company and conduct a field work in every core subjects they learn in this course. Every students, mostly in groups, makes at least a visit to a company in every week. Thus they practice or learn to practice while they study the subject in the department. ADMISSION PROCESS

  • Admission will be purely based on merit.
  • A Ranklist will be made with the aggregate score from UG Marks, Entrance Exam (CMAT, KMAT or CAT ), Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • A pass in any bachelor’s Degree Examination of MG University or an equivalent degree of any other university, duly recognized by KTU with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate for all parts of examination or a Master’s Degree Examination with 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Valid KMAT / CMAT or CAT Score.
  • A pass in any Bachelor’s Degree examination is needed for SC/ST candidates.

  • The One-time Application Fee of Rs 500 is to be paid at the time of submitting the Application Form.
  • Admission Fee (one-time) of Rs.500 and a part of Tuition Fee Rs. 25,000 are to be paid together once admission is offered to the candidate. Thus, a candidate who has been offered admission will have to pay Rs. 25,500/-.

 

Tuition Fee for subsequent semesters will only be payable later.

  • If the candidate is opting for bank loan, already collected tuition fee of Rs.25,000 will be reimbursed to the candidate as an when the bank loan is approved.
  • Any candidate who desires to discontinue from the programme after confirmation of admission & registration for the courses specified in the admit offer letter will forfeit the total amount of fees paid.

HOW TO APPLY?

    • Formal Application form for the MBA Admission can be obtained from the Viswajyothi School of Management Studies Office in person on payment of Rs. 500.
    • Application forms may also be downloaded from the link below. Such applications have to be submitted along with a DD of Rs. 500/- in favour of " Principal, Viswajyothi College of Engineering and Technology" payable at Vazhakulam, Muvattupuzha.
    • The duly filled application forms along with attested copies of the necessary documents can be submitted directly or by registered post addressing the college so as to reach the college office on or before the prescribed date. Applicants shall obtained acknowledgment from the college for application submitted directly.
    • Application submitted to the college should be completed in all respects. The candidate should fill in all the items in the application form in his / her own handwriting.
    • Copies of following Certificates / Documents Attested by Gazetted Officer/Head of the Institution where the student had studied should be submitted along with the application.
      • 10 / 12 or equivalent certificate in proof of the date of birth.
      • Mark list of the qualifying examination.
      • Score card of MAT/C-MAT/KMAT.
      • In case of candidates claiming any sort of reservation or special consideration, document to prove such claims must be submitted along with the application.

 

NOTE:

    • Furnishing false information/particulars would result in the forfeiture of the candidature as well as cancellation of admission of the course.
    • Merit list for the admission will be published in the college website/notice board.
    • Selection will be in the order of merit.

Viswajyothi College of Engineering and Technology, Vazhakulam was established in the year 2001 and is run by the Diocesan Technical Educational Trust under the aegis of the Syro Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Kothamangalam. As a professional educational institution, it has always strived to educate engineers and professionals to the next level through innovative activities. We offer professional undergraduate programmes in eight engineering disciplines, and another undergraduate programme in Hotel Management and Catering Technology. Furthermore, we offer three postgraduate programmes in engineering disciplines, along with MBA. Presently, around 1800 students are enrolled in different courses.
